Pha Chor Mountain Biking
Description | Details |
Trail Name: | Pha Chor Downhill |
Trail Location: | Mae Wang |
Trail Type: | Enduro |
Trail Difficulty: | Moderate |
This is a fun, non-technical enduro mountain biking trail consisting of 10km of undulating singletrack through the forested hills below Doi Inthanon National Park with an additional 10km along a flat river bed and final few km of road to Pha Chor, one of the main attractions in Mae Wang National Park.
How to Get There?
Drive South from Chiang Mai city along the 108 towards Doi Inthanon, turning right to follow the 1009 towards the park entrance. Just after the entrance turn right and follow the road, which until 2018 was a dirt dual track. Follow this to the trailhead.
What to Know
You can avoid paying park fees by explaining where you are going, fees are only to access to tourist areas towards the summit. The trail is best avoided in the wet season as the clay surface gets very slippery. The river will also be higher in wet season making it more difficult to cycle the last section. As the trail is relatively short, there are some nice trails and roads to explore around Pha Chor and far less visited attractions no less impressive than Phachor so it is worth a ride around.
