Description | Details |
Trail Name: | Nong Ri |
Trail Location: | Khao Kheow, Chonburi |
Trail Type: | Short Single Track |
Trail Difficulty: | Moderate |
Nong Ri is located at the North of Khao Kheow, about 1 hour from Bangkok and an hour from Pattaya. It consists of a short single track XC trail that has been well maintained by the local riders, with the trail ranging in-between 4-11km depending on the route you take. There is ample parking when you arrive and a few small shops selling local food. The trail head is at the car parking area and heads into the hills, doubling back on itself several times as it winds up the hill. Whilst the trails are not technically difficult you have to be pretty fit to peddle up some of the steeper sections, but it is worth it as there are some smooth and fast single track sections, as well as various interesting features to make the journey here worthwhile.
Getting to Nong Ri is fairly straightforward, whether from Bangkok or Pattaya join Highway 7 and head towards Khao Kheow. Exit onto Highway 344 which is one of the main roads to Rayong and Trat, and after 10 minutes you will turn off onto one of the minor roads heading towards the mountains. Whilst most of the smaller roads will reach the destination, look out for an Esso on the left side of the road and a PTT garage on the right side. Take the right turn at this point for the most direct route.
Nong Ri is just one of many good places for mountain biking in Chonburi and part of a wide network of trails developed by and maintained by a loyal following of mountain bikers in the region.
