Mon Jam
Description | Details |
Trail Name: | Mon Jam to Tad Mork Waterfall |
Trail Location: | Mae Rim |
Trail Type: | Road/XC |
Trail Difficulty: | Moderate |
The area around Mon Jam is fun to explore on two wheels with a myriad of farm trails, roads and single track throughout the area. This is just one variation of a route which consists of about 50% road / 40% dirt dual track and 10% singletrack. Depending on whether you have transport or not you can choose different starting / end points. The ride up to Mon Long viewpoint is worth the trip despite the tough climb but as of 2019 the trail up is now 100% paved. The journey down is a mix of dirt track and badly maintained paved sections through a mix of pine forest and small fruit farms. Some sections are rarely used and very overgrown so make sure you have maps.me installed on your phone as its very easy to lose the trail.
The offroad section pops out above Tad Mork waterfall which is nice for a break, the fee is 100THB and includes entrance to Mae Sa waterfall further towards Mae Rim. From here it is all paved as you head towards Chiang Mai city and worth finishing the ride before you reach the 107 highway.
