Khao Yai Thien, situated close to Namtakhong resevoir in Nakhon Ratchasima province was home of the Thailand Enduro Series Round 4 in 2017. Khao Yai Thien is just 3 hours from Bangkok, easily reached via Highway 1 North East to Saraburi and Highway 2 which heads to Nakhon Ratchasima city. As you drive past the town of Pak Chong Namtakhong will be on the left side so from here you have to look out carefully for the small road which turns off on the right heading up the mountain where the trails are located. There are numerous popular resorts making it an ideal place to stay a night or 2.

Special Stage 5 is an extension of SS3 and is another technical trail 1.1km in length running alongside the access road. There are plenty of large rocks to navigate with some rock gardens taking their toll on the bike suspension. The trail can get tight in places so watch the handlebars clipping trees. The end of the trail is close to Highway 2 so if you don’t have an uplift it is a grueling climb to the top and not recommended.
