Moutain Biking in Khao Bin

Khao Bin is located 2 hours West of Bangkok in the province of Ratchaburi and is the setting for the annual Chom Bueng MTB race and marathon. It is perhaps better known for Khao Bin cave, which is a large cave complex in which visitors can walk through for 20 THB.

There is a large carpark at the start of the Khao Bin trail, with a number of restaurants and tourist shops mainly catering for people visiting the caves, however it is a good place to stock up on water and to relax after cycling. The caves are also recommended for a visit before heading home.

There are a number of trails, some of which are marked for the annual Chom Bueng MTB race, however it is quite easy to get lost trying to follow them as the trails can get quickly overgrown. The general route takes you around the mountain in a clockwise direction. The hills in the area are mainly limestone karsts and so there are no trails over them, rather than around and because of this the overall elevation gain is no more than 100m. The trials are a combination of dirt, sand, gravel and the trail takes you through open grassland, farms, eucalyptus forests and bamboo groves, all making for a fun biking trail.

Directions

Head West out of Bangkok on highway 338 heading towards Nakhom Patom. 20km past Nakhom Patom turn left onto highway 4 heading into Ratchaburi town. Before reaching the town turn right onto the 3291 road before several smaller roads which will be marked with signs to Khao Bin cave. Please see the GPS coordinates and location map on the left of the website page for further details.
