Downhill in Chiang Mai

Description Details
Trail Name: CDC Trail
Trail Location: San Kampeang
Trail Type: Downhill
Trail Difficulty: Difficult

To: CDC Trail

45 minutes East of Chiang Mai city is the CDC track, one of the more challenging downhill trails in Chiang Mai and host to cycling events such as the Thailand Gravity Series. Professional downhill rider Steve Peat and Josh Bryceland has raced here several times over the past few years and is certain to challenge the most accomplished of downhill mountain bikers. There is a small lake at the bottom of the 1.26km track with ample places to park the car. Alternatively the trail head starts just off a main road at the top of the hill. It’s a 4.5km ride from the base of the track to the trail head, however its perhaps easier just to push up or charter a songteaw to do shuttle runs to and from the trailhead.

Despite being short in length it is worth doing a few rounds and the track is a good practice area for jumps, berms, and very steep single track. After a day of riding, San Kampeang hot springs is just a few km away and is a worthwhile stop off on the way home. The trail is regularly maintained by local riders but falls into various states of disrepair during the year so contact us for an update on conditions. Just down the road is Chiang Mai Bike Park so its worth combining a trip to CDC with a trip to the bike park to get the most out of your visit.
