Buddha Footprint
Description | Details |
Trail Name: | Buddha But Left |
Trail Location: | Doi Pui, Chiang Mai |
Trail Type: | XC |
Trail Difficulty: | Hard |
A fun and more challenging alternative to the standard Buddha Footprint trail, ‘Buddha But Left’ starts at Sam Yeak junction which leads to the Hmong village on Doi Pui. Cycle through the village and along the XC singletrack trail towards the back of the village and head up the steep climb as for the standard Buddha Footprint trail. Just before the trail turns right for the final big push to the summit, take the left turn which follows a ridge South for several km before dropping down the mountain valley.
The trail consists of predominantly single track, starting with a steep descent with several fun switchbacks before leveling off as you descend closer to the bottom of the valley. The single track exits in a farm where the trail gives way to a mix of paved and dirt double track which continues to descent for several km to the 1269 highway. Once you finish the mountain descent there is quite a long ride back to the city so its not recommended on a downhill bike unless you have arranged transportation to pick you up on the road.
