The 8Adventures Mission

To share breathtaking nature experiences, connecting people to regions, communities & cultures, through fun, exciting and safe learning activities for all ages.

Rafting in Chiang Mai is a popular activity and 8Adventures is the premier whitewater rafting outfitter in the region, as well as being the first and only compant certified by the IRF (International Rafting Federation) in Thailand. 8Adventures is run by world class adventure enthusiasts; 2-time World Champion Kayaker Eric Southwick, Thai National Champion Kriangsak Boonsom and Asian Champion Ekwit Chuapoon so you can be sure you will be in the safest hands possible.

Rafting Summary

8Adventures offers a 10km and 5km option on the Mae Taeng river, the 10km is their signature rafting trip, which includes Class III-IV rapids on the Mae Taeng River. From the river camp guests are driven a short 15 minute drive to the village of Sop Kai where they are given a full safety briefing. Once everyone is geared up the groups set off for some exciting yet relatively gentle rapids to get warmed up for the main class IV section.

Here everyone comes alive and gets ready for the section below. The guides will check in with each other and give the signal to go as all boats drop into the first class IV rapid. The class IV section is non-stop action. Follow your guide’s commands as you charge forward though many rewarding class IV rapids. At the bottom everyone gives a paddle high five and celebrates a job well done, completing the most exciting section of rapids in northern Thailand. But the fun is not done ~ you still have 4 kilometers of Class III and 5 more kilometers back down to 8Adventures. Don’t be surprised to see an elephant while floating down this spectacular scenic section of river.

For those looking for a more gentle experience of rafting in Chiang Mai, the 5km trip is for you! Rafting 5 Km of the Mae Taeng River with a combination of Class II and III rapids, guests will pass elephant camps and beautiful jungle scenery as the raft meanders down the waterway. This is a great trip for families and those that want a softer adventure. Learn about flora and fauna with your guide as you pass down through the canyon.
