Active Thailand Trekking
|
|
Active Thailand trekking adventures take place in a number of regions in Thailand, from the far North in the popular Chiang Mai and Chiang Rai provinces, to the less touristy, but equally beautiful Tak province to the West and one of the largest National parks in Thailand, Koa Yai located to the East of Thailand.

Chiang Mai serves as the perfect base for Thailand trekking. The North of Thailand is home to the largest mountain in Thailand, Doi Inthanon, as well as numerous other mountains, jungles and waterfalls. Chiang Mai is well connected so getting to and from Chiang Mai is very easy, another reason why so many trekkers in Thailand use it as a base.

Trekking in the Northern part includes Doi Chiangdao to the Maetang river area. This is one of the most popular destinations for Thailand trekking as it is only an hour’s drive from Chiang Mai and offers stunning jungle, waterfalls and wild rivers. Doi Chiangdao (or Doi Luang) is the country’s third tallest mountain is makes for a stunning backdrop. South West of Chiang Mai is Doi Inthanon, and the Doi Inthanon National Park, which is the most visited National Park in Northern Thailand.

Umphang in Tak province is one of the wildest treks with far fewer visitors than more traditional trekking destinations like Chiang Mai. Umphang is a famed wildlife sactuary so this trek is popular with those interested in viewing the flora and fauna.
Central Thailand has excellent trekking opportunities and wildlife viewing in Khao Yai National Park. Active Thailand also conduct treks in the Kanchanaburi area and all the way to the border in Sanklaburi. All our treks are fully inclusive and are conducted by experienced English speaking guides.
